Mike Dean Obituary

Mike Dean
January 21, 1961 - January 26, 2019
Mike Dean, a longtime resident of Grand Junction CO, passed away on January 26, 2019, at the age of 58, in Lakewood, CO, due to end stage renal failure.
Mike was born on January 21, 1961, to James and Gloria Dean in Crane, Texas. He married his wife, Vicki Dean, on November 20, 1982, in Odessa Texas, and the two moved to Grand Junction, CO in 1989 with their son, Jesse Dean. Mike went on to start Electrical Apparatus Service Company (EASCO), and for nearly a decade they provided service for high voltage electrical equipment for Electric Cooperative's through the Central United States. For over 30 years he also taught special apparatus training courses at various hotline schools in CO, UT, AZ, WY, MT, SD, ND, and AK, and helped mentor hundreds of young electricians throughout the United States.
Mike was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and enjoyed elk and bird hunting in Colorado and Kansas. He also enjoyed riding his Harley, raising mules on his farm, and spending time with his grandchildren, Gage and Gavin Dean. He had a larger than life personality that could light up the room and everyone he knew considered him a best friend or a brother. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all that knew him.
Mike is survived by his parents; sister, Holy Dean; brother, Judson Dean; son, Jesse Dean, and grandchildren, Gage Dean, and Gavin Dean. He is preceded by older brother, Billy Dean.
A memorial service will be held on May 9th at 6:00 p.m. and May 16th at 6:00 p.m. at the Double Tree Hotel in Grand Junction, CO during the Mesa Hotline School banquet.
Donations can be made to the Mesa Hotline School scholarship fund through [email protected].
