Audrey Nettifee Obituary

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Audrey L. Nettifee, 80, of Sioux Falls, died Sunday (May 31, 2009) at Good Samaritan Center in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4, at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, with burial at Hills of Rest Memorial Park.
Audrey Lucile Calvert, daughter of Glen and Margerie (Hudson) Calvert, was born May 13, 1929, in Mason City. She grew up on a farm near Rock Falls. Audrey graduated from Rock Falls High School before attending Nettleton Business College in Mason City.
Audrey was united in marriage with Orville Nettifee on Aug. 1, 1949, in Albert Lea, Minn. The family lived in Mason City, Fairmont, Minn., Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Des Moines and Detroit, Mich., before moving to Sioux Falls, S.D., in 1970. Audrey worked at Crossroads Bookstore, Younkers and Kohls before retiring.
Audrey was a member of Oakwood Park Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband. Audrey and Orville were open wheel racing fans and attended many races through the years. Audrey was an avid shopper. Music was a big part of her life. She played organ, piano, accordion and tuba. She loved caring for her Siamese cat, Buttons. Above all, Audrey cherished her family and the times she spent with them.
Grateful for having shared her life are her beloved husband of nearly 60 years, Orville; four children, Thomas Nettifee, Long Beach, Calif., Carolyn Kirby and her husband, Glenn, West Hills, Calif., Mary Lou Racette and her husband, Russell, Sioux Falls, S.D., Jerry Nettifee and his wife, Karen, Hartford, S.D.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
