Joseph Kenneth "Ken" OsborneJoseph Kenneth "Ken" Osborne, age 77, of 309 Edwards Branch Lane, Blairs, Va., passed away on Sunday morning, June 26, 2016, at 2:30 a.m. as a result of Melanoma and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL).Born on March 30, 1939, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Lloyd Osborne and Eva Dishmond Osborne. On July 3, 1960, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life Annie Lee Adkins Osborne. He was a member of Chestnut Level Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. He was a former member of Blairs Volunteer Fire Department, serving as Fire Chief for nine years and was a Corporate Board Member of the Fire Department. He was a former member of the Blairs Ruritan Club. He was a member of Carter Lodge #323 and a member of American Legion Post #325. He served in the Virginia Army National Guard from 1962 1966.He was a hard worker, gentleman, a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed many summers boating, water skiing, and jet skiing at Smith Mountain Lake with his family. He also enjoyed gardening, helping other people, Harley motorcycles, old cars, all sports, and especially NASCAR (#88).He was employed as a heavy equipment operator and crew leader by Thompson-Arthur Paving Co. for 18 years. In 1976, he started his own business, Ken's Auto Parts, Inc. which he and his wife operated for 25 years. After selling the business he worked for JTI in shipping before retiring to the farm to raise cattle and hay.In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Teresa O. Motley and one granddaughter, Holly Ann Motley.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son, Brian Kent Osborne; two sisters, Joan Sue Osborne, infant, and Elizabeth O. Adkins.The family will receive friends at Norris Funeral Services, Mount Hermon Chapel, Danville, Va., on Monday, June 27, 2016, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times at the residence, 309 Edwards Branch Lane, Blairs, Va.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Norris Funeral Services, Mount Hermon Chapel, Danville, Va. with the Rev. David Anderson and the Rev. John Lester officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park, Danville, Va.In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be made to the Danville Cancer Association, 223 Riverview Dr., Danville, VA 24540.Norris Funeral Services, Inc. and Crematory, Mt.
