Robert Lloyd Davis, Jr., age 91 of Danville, Va, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his son and daughter by his side.

Bob was born to Robert Lloyd Davis I and Lona Chattin Davis on April 1, 1932. in Danville, Va. He attended George Washington High School. It was shortly thereafter he married his high school sweetheart, Jeannette Johnson and they moved to Richmond, VA. After high school he enlisted in the US Army where he served two years. Bob and Jenny spent some time in Anchorage, Alaska, before he was honorably discharged. It was after this time settling into civilian life that he began working at Shell Oil Company, as Plant Manager. He held this position for nearly 35 years and retired early to enjoy his life. He enjoyed walking, traveling, outside concerts and spending time with his family. Bob was a faithful and active member of Moffet Memorial Baptist Church in Danville, VA.

Bob is survived by his children, his son Robert L. Davis III, and daughter-in-law Janice F. Davis from Richmond, Virginia and daughter, Deborah Davis Keith from Raleigh, N.C.

Bob has four grandchildren, Natalie Pennington from Radford, VA, Forest Davis from Denver, CO, Jenna Guiditta from Raleigh, N.C. and Miles Keith from Philadelphia, PA.

Bob has five great grandchildren, Sydney Edwards, Addison and Easton Pennington and Leo and Eli Guiditta. He loved his grandchildren and great children so much and loved spending time with them.

Bob was preceded in death by Thelma S. Davis. Her children were Ray Stratton and Bruce Stratton.

Bob will be remembered for the love he had for his family, his love of living his life to the fullest, his kindness, generosity, and positiveness. Always making sure your needs were met before his own. He was larger than life, a tender man and he will be missed beyond words could ever express. His legacy has made a mark in all of our lives.

A memorial viewing was held at Barker Funeral Home, Danville, Va on Friday, November 10 for family and friends. Bob was laid to rest in a private family ceremony in Richmond, Virginia on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
