Robert Lakey Obituary
Robert Paul Lakey, 91, went to meet his late wife, Lucille at the heavenly gates on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Sovah Medical after declining health. Robert was born in Danville, on February 28, 1930, to the late Randolph Lakey and Ida Lakey of Danville. Robert loved working in his woodshop before his eyesight declined and was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.
Robert is survived by his two sons, Robert G. Lakey (Teresa) and Richie Lakey (Michele); four grandchildren, Megan (Andrew), Robin (Jake), Zachary (Emily), and Tyler (Jewel); and four great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his wife and two brothers.
The family would like to thank Robert's neighbor and guardian angel, Margie for always being a great caregiver.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 23, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Townes Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at Townes Funeral Home from 6 until 7:30 p.m. At other times at Robert Lakey Jr., residence 204 Whittington Drive Danville, VA 24541 and Richie Lakey residence, 25 Airport Road, Yanceyville, NC 27379.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the local animal shelter as Robert adored animals.
