Bro. Childress taught me many great lessons in Masonry over the years. He had a wonderfully inquisitive mind, that although well-educated and well spoken, with an almost photographic memory. He was a Master among the brethren. As high as he rose in ranks of men, he was always interested in you, regardless of how well you were acquainted. I believe he will be remembered as one of the best loved Grand Masters in Texas Masonry!

So very sad to lose such a close and dear friend who I first met when we were roommates as freshmen at Rice University back in 1954. We remained close friends all these years since graduation. My wife, Martha, and I will sorely miss him, and our sincere condolences go out to Mariom and all the Childress family.
