LoyAnn Rembe Obituary

LoyAnn (Pennington) Rembe, 67, of Great Falls, died of complications from scleroderma Tuesday at her home.
Visitation is noon to 8 p.m. today at Schnider Funeral Home. Her funeral is 11 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Bible Church, with burial in Highland Cemetery.
LoyAnn's battle with scleroderma lasted more than 15 years.
LoyAnn was born to the late C.L. "Skip" Pennington and Beverly Ashton Pennington in Great Falls, Mont., on March 28. 1942. She lived her entire life in Great Falls, with a brief break in New York state when her father was stationed there during World War II.
After graduating from Great Falls High School, she attended the University of Montana, where she met her future husband of 39 years, R. Karl Rembe of Northbrook, Ill. LoyAnn and Karl married in August 1962. Their marriage ended in divorce.
While she and Karl raised three sons, LoyAnn dived into volunteering. She loved her home city. Starting with the Great Falls Receiving Home, an orphanage, she raised funds and cared for the children. She also worked tirelessly for the Junior League of Great Falls and was active in the Great Falls Symphony. Her volunteerism prepared her well to lead bigger efforts. She spearheaded the beautification of Broadwater Overlook while being president of Community Beautification. She was a trusted adviser of the Economic Growth Council and most recently finished her tenure as vice chairman of the University of Great Falls. LoyAnn also served as president of Broadwater Beverage.
LoyAnn was also deep in her faith. Leading many Bible studies and lectures over the past two decades, she was a member of Emmanuel Bible Church.
She is survived by her sons, Todd Rembe (partner John Lee) of Oak Park, Ill., Ty (wife Laura) of Great Falls and Trevor (wife Amy) of Sherwood, Ore.; sister Susan Pennington Parker of Great Falls; as well as many loyal and loving friends. Her legacy leaves behind seven beautiful grandchildren: Brianne, Madison, Tevan, Abigail, Parker, Sofia and Maxwell.
Memorials are suggested to the Community Beautification Association of Great Falls (CBA), Attn: Jodie Tooley, 2800 Upper River Road, Great Falls, MT 59405; or to the Scleroderma Foundation, Attn: Donations, 300 Rosewood Drive, Ste 105, Danvers, MA 01923; www.scleroderma.org.

Here is a picture of Loy Ann (and me) at my 13th birthday party at the waterworks park. It was May 4, 1953--so she had just turned 11 a few weeks before.

What a dear friend she was to me!

Love,
Donna

I gasped when i saw your mom's picture and name here this morning. I was thinking of her just last week, wondering how she was doing, then i saw her in a add for a hair salon, and thought she must be doing better, I am so very sorry to see her loose her battle. What an amazing person she was. It was always a joy to work with her. We would laugh when she would buy capris and they would be more like regular length pants. I had the privilege of altering her clothes. I will miss her. Prayers of peace for those left behind
