I knew and loved Marcy Wood all my life. We are the same age, were in the same class in school, grades 1 4, until my family moved out of the area. Mom and Dad were both Belt people, and we went back often my mom was Helen Johnson, sister to the late Anton Johnson of Raynesford. Dad was Leo Kleffner from that big clan.
I will miss Marcy because she, along with Dorothy Johnson, personified Belt to me. She was really part of our family she was good to Grandma Kleffner, and we all knew her grandmother Urick. I have early memories of going to L&M Lockers with Dad, and there was George, teasing me. In first grade, I went to Marcys or Dorothys every day for lunch, and Helen was like a second mom.
It is profoundly sad that we have lost Marcy, a pillar of the community and a central figure of my childhood. It brings forward sentimental thoughts and beautiful memories.
My condolences to everyone in her family.

My heart goes out to Marcy's family, her many friends and to the City of Belt. She was a great organizer and always happy to help anyone who asked. I have talked with several other classmates in the last few days who are all as sorry as I to know she is gone. We all thought she would outlive us all and are so sorry she didn't.
