Howard Schneider Obituary

Howard Schneider

Denmark - Howard A. Schneider, 92, died on March 18, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. Howard was born on January 17, 1929 to the late Edward and Eleanor (Fischer) Schneider.

At the age of 21 he was drafted into the Army and after boot camp was on his way to Korea. After serving he came home and married the former Dorothy Johnson on December 6, 1952. They just celebrated 68 years this past December.

Howard worked hard at his job as a mechanic, starting out with cars and ending his career working on diesel engines at Leicht Transport based in Green Bay. He loved cars and working on engines. His cars were his pride and joy, always wanting them to be clean and full of gas for whatever road trip he and Dottie could dream of!

They took road trips to Alaska, Florida, California, and all the states in between! His hobbies were few, but he especially loved seeing and hearing about his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed deer hunting and after retirement he loved golfing in the Senior League at Wander Springs.

Howard was a lifetime member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Denmark. He was a Volunteer Firefighter for more than 50 years with the Denmark Volunteer Fire Department.

Howard is survived by his loving wife Dottie, 2 daughters and their spouses, Pamela (Rob) Siegel and Kaye (Robbie) Kane. 4 grandchildren Jennifer (Chad) Bear, San Diego, Christopher (Dana) Siegel, De Pere, Travis (Ashley) Kane, Denmark, and Courtney (Jared Smith) Kane, Green Bay. Six great-grandchildren, Ella and Maxwell Bear, Evelyn and Aubree Siegel, Rylie Smith and Colton Kane. Howard is also survived by one sister-in-law, Patricia Johnson, Oconomowoc; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, his two brothers Lester and Frederick Schneider, his parents and his father-in-law Hilbert Johnson and mother-in-law Harriet (Heimerl) Johnson.

A memorial service followed by full military honors, will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Denmark, WI on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 10 am, with the Reverend Andrew D. Zoerb officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral starting at 9 am. Masks will be required and social distancing practices will be followed. Burial will be in the West Danish Cemetery in Denmark.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for Our Saviors Lutheran Church.

Special thanks to all the nursing staff with Unity Hospice for the loving care of Howard.

Hard to believe it´s been a year since Howard left us for heaven. I recently read we die twice, once when we die and again when we are forgotten. Howard will always be remembered! Dorothy too, always enjoy visiting with you.
