John Finco Obituary

Finco, John Jr.

John C. Finco Jr., Green Bay resident, 74, passed away peacefully September 23, 2015. He was born May 20, 1941, to the late John and Domicella (Zielinski) Finco Sr. in Wakefield, MI. John married the former Julianne Martin in Bessemer, MI on April 20,1963. He graduated from Northern Michigan University in 1967. John and his family moved to Green Bay to pursue his passion of teaching. He taught for 31 years at East High School, specializing in power mechanics and electronics along with Special Ed. John was also the athletic director for many years at East High, and he was deeply involved in the Green Bay community, working with numerous organizations throughout the years. John was always incredibly modest about his accomplishments, often refusing honors that would earn him public recognition for his hard work. John loved to garden, and instilled a love of cutting grass in his children. Along with gardening, his homemade pickle recipe was addictive. John also enjoyed working with his hands, he was know as Mr. "Fix It" often starting projects and sometimes finishing them when time allowed. He was often busy acting as a second father to his children's friends throughout his life. John's home was always open for the stray friend or two. When John became a grandpa, his pride and joy became his three grandsons.

John is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Julianne, Green Bay; his son, Louis (Candice) Finco, Waukesha; and their children, Anthony John "AJ" and Charles; daughters, Julie Marie Finco, St. Paul, MN; and Patricia (Jeff) Gunville, St. Paul, MN; and their son, Jacob. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, George (Jan) Finco, Ted (Roseann) Finco, Marcia (David, deceased) Jurakovich, Lucia (Frank) Pairolero, Domicella (Greg) Yon, Tom (Patty) Finco, Fran (Billie) Finco, and Mike (Pam) Finco, and brother in law Bob Martin (Pam) Denver Co. and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives; friends from St. John the Evangelist Parish, St Mary's of the Angels Parish and St. Vincent De Paul Society. Along with his special friends and neighbors Brian and Sandy Van Beaver.

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial Service 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Deacon Jim Gauthier officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.

I met John through athletics when I moved to Green Bay to teach. I would bump into him throughout at sporting events and GBEA activities. He was such a friendly and kind person. Easy going, easy to talk to, easy to like. My thoughts go out to you at this time.

I was also a teacher at East High for several years. Worked on a variety of projects outside of school with John. He sure had a knack for repairing all kinds of stuff. Congrats to the kids/grandkids for having such a great person so help them along in life.

My prayers go out to you. I knew John because I was a teacher also in the GB System. We crossed paths on many occasions. I found him to be a kind person and always there to help another out. He will certainly be missed.

I am very sad to know that you are all going through this. He was a very nice man and we have fond memories of him visiting all of us, but especially our parents in Wakefield. I am so sorry for your way too early loss.

I was in total shock to see that John died. As you know, I spent many mornings at Al's having breakfast with John and the others. He will be so very much missed. Words can't express my sorry at his passing.
