Raymond Grusznski Obituary
Raymond J. Grusznski, age 87, of Green Bay, WI, was called home to his eternal peace on May 30, 2017, at Rennes Health in De Pere. Ray was born in the township of Glenmore on January 8, 1930, to the late Stanley and Edna (Terrien) Grusznski. On September 27, 1952, Ray was united in marriage to Elsie Micolichek. Raymond was a hard worker from a very young age. Besides farming, he worked for Hessler's Mink Ranch, Larson Canning, Hebels Corner Cheese factory and Montgomery Wards. He retired from James River Paper Mill after 40 years.
Ray was happiest when surrounded by family and also enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, hunting, and beekeeping. He enjoyed playing sheepshead, poker, and cribbage. In his younger days, Ray loved tearing around town on his 1947 Harley Davidson. Ray, along with his wife Elsie, raised chickens for over 20 years.
Ray is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Elsie; children: Dave (Shelly) Grusznski, Debbie (Paul) Ossmann, Kristy (Craig) Wenner, Don (Robert McCarthy) Grusznski, Sue (the late Jon) Yohanek and grandchildren: Alissa (AJ) Vanden Hoogen, Arin (Mike) McComb, Jared (Heather) Grusznski, Sarah (Darrel) Cappelle, Becky (Scot) Hammann, Jordan (special friend Kyra) Wenner, Andie Sue Yohanek and great-grandchildren: Brooke, Christian, Summer, Avery, Brody, Broden, Dylan, Jackson, Shyanne, Grace, Jude, and one on the way.
Ray is further survived by his siblings: Agnes Benz, Alfred Grusznski, Evelyn (Francis Cavanaugh) Stetson, Kathleen Dworak, Mary (Jerome) Watzka, Patrick (Marie) Grusznski and brothers and sisters-in-law: Mary Jane Grusznski, Leo Heim, Jerry (Katie) Micolichek, Elaine (Bernard) Verheyen, Arnie (Carol) Micolichek, Sally (James) Guns, and Carol (Ken) Van Lanen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by three infant daughters: Mary, Karen, Theresa; son-in-law, Jon Yohanek; beloved grandson, Alex Grusznski; brothers and sister: Robert Grusznski and Clarence (Barney) Grusznski, Arlene Heim; brothers and sisters-in-law: Clement Micolichek, Richard Micolichek, Rita Grusznski, Marcella Grusznski and Bernard Dworak.
Family and friends may call at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Dr, Green Bay, WI on June 5 ,2017, with visitation from 9:00am to 11:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Bishop Bob Morneau, will be at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin through Raymond's family.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Rennes Health and Rehabilitation as well as Unity Hospice staff for the loving care they gave Raymond.
