Charles Jeffers, 80, of Greeneville, passed away Sunday at Franklin Woods Medical Center.
He was a member of Doty's Chapel Church.
He retired from the Greeneville Police Dept. after 37 years of law enforcement service. He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 692, a 50 year member of the Mosheim Masonic Lodge No. 463, Tennessee Sheriffs Association, Southern States Police Benevolent Association, and the Jericho Shrine.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Chuck and Mary Jo Jeffers; a daughter: Andrea Hill (John Ridinger); grandchildren: Rebecca Jeffers, Melanie Jeffers, and Mason Hill (Madison Marion); a great-granddaughter: Adira Lambert; a brother and sister-in-law: Don and Doris Jeffers; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Judy and Derrick Kitzmiller; a niece and nephews: Amanda and David Whittiker, Keith Jeffers, and Tommy Jeffers; and a great-nephew: Kristopher Hilton.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Gail Davis Jeffers; his parents: Robert and Leda Mae Jeffers; a brother: Carroll Jeffers; and a niece: Whitney Lowe.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, Afton chapel.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Jeffers Afton Chapel with Kevin Morrison and Chaplain Danny Ricker officiating.
The burial will follow in GraceLand Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Lewis Shipley, John Jones, Charles Kinser, Charles Morelock, Earl Mysinger, and Terry Cannon.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Greeneville Police Dept.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; or Doty's Chapel Church, c/o Bobby Reynolds, 2915 Doty Chapel Road, Afton, TN 37616.
