December 22, 1942 - July 16, 2023

Our beloved Cassandra Virginia Ricketts, surrounded by her adoring family, passed away Sunday evening, July 16, 2023. She was born in Greensboro during an ice storm on December 22,1942. Sandra's father loved telling the story about driving to the newspaper office before midnight, in the dangerous ice storm, so her birth could be announced in the next day's newspaper. The precious "near Christmas" baby girl filled her parents, Leslie U. Rickett Jr., and Cassandra K. (Billy) Ricketts, with such joy, and that joy continued throughout the years.

Sandra loved Greensboro and was a proud graduate of Greensboro Senior High School (now Grimsley High School). Through the years she remained in close contact with her life-long friends from her school years. She was very active in alumni events and reunion planning and activities. Sandra grew up and remained a life-long member of West Market United Methodist Church

Family was very important to Sandra. She was a loving daughter and a devoted sister to Kay Jones and Pam Warren. The beach trips were always special fun and wonderful family times. We will all miss her excitement and enthusiasm for all family activities. It was hard to compete with Sandra when it came to holidays. She decorated, dressed, cooked, and generously shared her holiday spirit with all of us and her friends.

After attending Pfeiffer University, Sandra began her career at Pilot Life Insurance Co. Later she transitioned into the medical field, and she thoroughly enjoyed her long career in the business and insurance offices of several medical practices.

Sandra is predeceased by her grandparents and her father Leslie U. Ricketts Jr. She is survived by her mother Cassandra K. (Billy) Ricketts, her sisters Kay Jones and Pam Warren (Randy), nephews Clay Craven and Chris Craven (Maggie), great- nephew Jack Craven, great-niece Anna Craven and many special cousins.

A graveside service officiated by Rev. Bill Ellison will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2023, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greensboro. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to West Market UMC or to a charity of the donor's choice. Forbis & Dick North Elm Street Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Love her. She was the sweetest and loving woman! She made my last 45 minutes of my route tolerable! She was always at the door waiting for me to deliver her mail with a smile and kindness. She would tell me work stories, and kept me chuckling on how she was planning her escape with her car to her house!! She would always end our conversations with " Be safe and love you Miss that, Love you

I knew Sandra when we worked at Wesley Long. Her office was on the same floor as the I.V. Team at one time. She was always so sweet, kind and funny and meticulous in her appearance. I know she will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences to her family!

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Sandra when I worked in the Radiology Department at Humana Hospital and she worked in the Billing Department. I remember when we used to have "pot luck" lunches Sandra would bring red beans and rice...yum yum, so delicious. I also remember one time she found a little white terrier dog running around her neighborhood and could not find the owner. I took the dog, who she called Snowball but I changed the name to Keisha. My children and I loved that little dog who we had for many years thanks to Sandra's generosity. Back in the day Sandra was a friend, co-worker, good cook, and always dressed to the nines. RIP Sandra. Hugs and prayers to the family.
