Nelson, Ruth Ann Hartsell

July 21, 1938 - December 31, 2023

"Ruth Ann" Hartsell Nelson, 85, of Julian, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home of Liberty. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 1 p.m. at the Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, 212 West Swannanoa Avenue, Liberty; officiated by, Pastor Gordon Fisher, Rob Linens, Sr., and Jay Goins. Burial will be following the service at Dr. Clyde M. Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian.

Ruth Ann was raised in Summerfield, NC and was the daughter of the late Beauford Alexander Hartsell and Dora Ann Bowman Hartsell. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters and her husband of 69 years, Jeff Nelson.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, three sons, Randy Neal Nelson (Sandy), Ricky Earl Nelson (Rebecca) & Charles "Chuck" Jeffrey Nelson (Linda); seven grandchildren, Tracy, Katheren, Eddie, Amanda, Michelle, Chaz and Nick; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and special nephew, Jay Goins (Dale).

Ruth Ann was a dedicated worker for Cone Mills for 35 years. She and Jeff were founding members of New Life Worship Center in Greensboro. Her family and church were always the center of heart. Ruth Ann and Jeff are now together in the arms of the Lord, our Savior.

We are at a loss for words to express our sympathy for your great loss, Ruth Ann was a very special person. She was such a sweet, caring Christian. She lived a life for her Savior. So saddened to hear of the passing of our sweet, beloved friend, Mrs. Ruth Ann Nelson. She was a true Godly woman, with a heart of gold. I know she is overjoyed to be reunited with her sweet Husband, Jeff and our Lord. They were both two of the most genuine, kindest people I've ever know.

I'm going to miss you much sweet friend. May you rest well.
