Jane was born August 15, 1926 in Greenville, the daughter of Hazael Earle Gilreath and John Stuart Taylor.

She was a graduate of Greenville High School and attended Winthrop College. She married Jack Arrington in 1947 and continued to live in Greenville, where their four children were born. In 1956, the family moved to Sewanee, Tennessee for Jack to attend The Episcopal Seminary at the University of the South. The family then moved to Spartanburg and after four years to Clemson, where they would live for some 45 years.

Mrs. Arrington was an active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Clemson, where her husband served as rector. She was a member of the Mayflower Society and of the Greenville Junior League. She volunteered at The St. Paul's Episcopal Church Thrift Shop and the Clemson Downs Health Center. She had a special place in her heart for children and the elderly.

Surviving are four children, the Reverend Jane Arrington Bender of Bethlehem, PA; John White Arrington IV and his wife, Anne Harrison Arrington of Greenville; Mary Arrington Walter of Spartanburg; Jefferson Gilreath Arrington and his wife Cathy Ayers Arrington of Bethesda, MD; eleven grandchildren, Paul Andrew Bender and his wife Dana Lorraine Bender of Bethlehem, PA; Dr. Anna Margaret Bender of New York, NY; Laura Elizabeth Bender of Philadelphia, PA; Mary Katherine Arrington Kester and husband Ross Benjamin Kester of Greenville; Emily Harrison Arrington Hutmaker and her husband Cody Aaron Hutmaker of Greenville; Julie Taylor Arrington Haas and her husband William Harlan Haas of Greenville; Sarah Jane Walter Winter and her husband, Dr. Jameel Justin Winter of Charlottesville, VA; David Arrington Walter and his wife Andrea Summitt Walter of Nashville, TN; Ellen Gilreath Walter of Savannah, GA; Justin Taylor Arrington and his wife Shayna Hutchins Arrington, of Bethesda, MD; and Matthew Baldwin Arrington of Bethesda, MD; and six great-grandchildren, Luke Mikail Bender, Ava Amelia Bender, and Eden Olivia Bender of Bethlehem, PA, Anna Spalding Kester and Darby Elisabeth Kester of Greenville, and Katherine Taylor Hutmaker of Greenville. She was predeceased by a sister, Hazael Gilreath Taylor of Frederick, MD, and a brother, John Stuart Taylor, Jr. of Greenville.

The family wishes to thank the extraordinary staff and caregivers at Rolling Green Village for the professional and loving care provided over many years.

Private burial will take place at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Pendleton prior to a memorial service, to be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Clemson on Tuesday, December 18 at 11 AM with the Reverend John S. Nieman and the Reverend Thomas Davis officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

Dear Emily and Loving Family,
May each tear that falls be a gentle reminder that you all and your grandmother meant so much to each other, no loss or sorrow, time or distance can ever take that away.
We live with the assurance that we will be together again upon the coming of our Lord, so trust the Lord to keep you all until that time. Keeping you in prayer. Miss you at NCES.
