Jim M. Powell, Jr.

Greer

Jim Monroe Powell, Jr., 74, died February 2, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

A native of Spartanburg County, son of the late Jim Monroe Powell, Sr. and Myrtle Fowler Powell, he was a U.S. Navy Veteran, a retired employee of Phillips Fibers, and a member of Piedmont Baptist Church, Chesnee.

Surviving are his wife, Eva Catherine Purser Powell of the home; two sons, Jim Monroe Powell III of the home and Scotty Lee Powell of Landrum; a step-son, Donnie Guy of Lyman; a step-daughter, Beverly Kaye Johnson of Chesnee; five grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth Johnson, Adam Scott Powell, Jessica Lynn Powell, Dustin Guy and Brittany Boston.

Mr. Powell was predeceased by one son, James Lee Powell and two sisters, Virginia Mason and Betty Blasingame.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Darrell Revels. Burial will follow in Wood Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Guy, Randy Blasingame, Robert Byars, Brian Harrison, Ricky Bishop, and Alan Mathis.

Honorary escort will be Frank Pace.

The families are at their respective homes.
