Keven Kenison Obituary

Keven Kurtis Kenison

Simpsonville

Keven Kenison passed away on May 23 after suffering cardiac arrest during a tennis match last week.

He is survived by his wife, Alexis "Allie" Kension (Werner) and his sons, Kurt (13) and Jake (12). He is also survived by his parents, Tom and Judy Kenison; sister, Kim Carpenter (Mike); brother, Tom Kension II, (Kevin); Parents-in-law, Chuck and Gale Werner; brother-in-law, Trey Werner (Christy); Step Brother, Jeff Kieselbach (Katie); Step Sister, Jenny Campbell (Chris); his nieces, Kelley Edelmann (Dan), Kasey Carpenter, and Chandler Werner; his nephews, Chase, Drew, Grant and Lane Kieselbach.

Born in Columbus, Ohio on May 3, 1964, Keven completed his undergraduate and law degrees from The Ohio State University and was a founding member of the Kenison, Dudley, & Crawford LLC law firm of Greenville, SC. He was a member of the Greenville Bar Association; South Carolina Bar Association and was Chair-elect for its Construction Law Section; Atlanta Bar Association and its Construction Law Section; the Georgia Bar Association and its Aviation and Bankruptcy Law Sections; the American Bar Association and its Construction Law, Surety, Technology, and Aviation Section, and was seated as an Attorney on the Aircraft Owners' and Pilots' Association (AOPA) National Panel of Aviation. He was a Certified Mediator and Arbitrator as well as a commercial pilot holding single engine, multi-engine and instrumental ratings.

Keven was passionate about his family and was a beloved friend and colleague. He was keen to notice and share the humorous element in most any situation--a quality that set others at ease.

While Keven led a full and varied life, when he was with you, you were all that mattered to him, and he had all the time in the world for you. Our worlds have become smaller as a result of his loss, but so much larger for his living.

There will be a private church service for Keven on May 25, 2013 followed by a Celebration of Life at the Greenville Jet Center, 1 Aviation Drive, Greenville, SC 29607, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Please join us to celebrate Keven's life with his family and friends.

Keven was a wonderful person. He loved his family and spoke of his fondness for them often. We were his clients and were so fortunate to have chosen, just by chance ,such an ethical and caring attorney to handle our case. When we went in for our first consultation, we decided immediately that he was the one. He was so full of energy and was a great listener. He was a big family man and would often let us know he would get back to us the next day because he was attending a sporting event or a dinner with his family. He would always voice concerns over how our case might effect our child. His last call to my husband was actually about his son's telephone. He loved his family so very much and we admired that about him. His sense of humor and assurance meant a great deal to us and will forever be appreciated. He will forever be alive in our memory as an exceptional person all the way around. May God bless his family and all of his friends at this most difficult time. We already miss his smiling face and kindness.

Sincerely,
The Bruce Family

Keven's obituary is absolutely true. He was always a joy to be around. He was smart, handsome, a really good lawyer, and had a sense of humor that still leaves me laughing when I think about some of the things he said. The world is less without Keven.
