Michael Martin Obituary

Michael Stokes Martin, age 18, son of Mike and Margie Martin of 145 Latham Drive, Anderson, SC, died on Friday, May 14, 2004.

Born in Tacoma, Wash., on August 26, 1985, Michael was a senior at Belton-Honea Path High School, where he was active in F.F.A. and F.C.A. Michael was involved in the Southeastern Circuit Motorcross Division. He was a part-time employee with Quality Foods in Anderson, S.C. He also served, for the past three years, as a volunteer firefighter with the Ebenezer Volunteer Fire Department and had been a First Responder for a year and a half. Michael had planned to attend Greenville Technical College to secure a degree in Fire Science to become a full time firefighter. Michael was a member of High Praises Church of God, where he was active in the Core Youth ministries. His greatest goal in life was to bring his friends to know God.

Michael is survived by his parents, Mike and Margie Martin, of the home; two sisters, Tyanne Martin, of Sandy Springs, S.C., and Heidi Madden and her husband, Phil, of Belton, S.C.; one nephew, Nathan Madden; grandmothers, Sara Martin, of Anderson, S.C. and Donna Condell, of Puyallup, Wash.; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Wiley Stokes Martin and David Condell.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at 3 p.m. at High Praises Church of God with the Rev. Chris Sustar and the Rev. Scott Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Firefighter Honors.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 17, 2004, at High Praises Church of God from 5 to 8 p.m.

The family is at the residence.

Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to High Praises Church of God, Youth Department, 4506 Midway Road, Williamston, SC 29697 or Ebenezer Fire Department, 1416 Due West Highway, Anderson, SC 29621.

The McDougald Funeral Home, Anderson, S.C. is in charge of arrangements.
