Peter Burrows Obituary

Dr. Peter M. Burrows of Clemson, died Feb. 21, 2002. A native of Nottingham, England, he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Leah Lempard Burrows. In 2001, the Trustees of Clemson University conferred the official title of Professor Emeritus upon Dr. Burrows, a biometrician and quantitative geneticist.

Survivors: Wife, E. Joyce Richardson Burrows of the home; and one sister; two nephews; and a niece in England.

Services were held Feb. 26, 2002, in Luverne, Ala., with burial in the Luverne Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, April 21, 2002, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the grand ballroom of the Madren Conference Center on the Clemson University Campus. Family will receive friends at 2 p.m. A formal program will begin at 3 p.m. to be followed by a reception. Former students, colleagues, former 4-H'ers, 4-H volunteer leaders, extension retirees, and other friends of the Richardson and Burrows families are invited. Individuals who plan to attend are asked to send by April 10, 2002, their name and address by e-mail to: [email protected].

The family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615; Clemson Church of Christ, P.O. Box 333, Clemson, SC 29633; or Hospice of the Upstate Inc., 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
