Arduino Menegat Obituary
Professor, Army Officer Col. Arduino Angelo Menegat PhD., 80, of Northampton, Massachusetts, passed away Wednesday the 27th of February 2008. He will FOREVER & ALWAYS be cherished by Beverly Clarke Menegat, his beloved wife of 60 years; as well as by his children, David Menegat, Brenda and husband, Steve Bollinger, and grandchildren, Alyssa and Victoria Menegat, and Sarah and Christopher Bollinger; sister, LeeRyan Yakima and brother, Norman Menegat. Family and friends attended a vigil and funeral mass in Col. Menegat's honor March 3rd, 2008 at 9:30 AM in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Proceeding, he received a full military honors ceremony at Canton Military Cemetery at 1 PM. Col. Menegat served his country most of his adult life from 1945 through 1988. First, in the U.S. Navy during World War II at Pearl Harbor and in Japan there after; and later in the crewman to Colonel providing training in plans, operations and intelligence. On May 31st, 1988 Col. Menegat was appointed Distinguished Member of the Army Med. Regiment by the Army Surgeon Gen. Quinn Becky. Other Campaign ribbons included Meritorious Servious Medal with an Oak Leaf cluster, Navy and Army Commendation, Army Res. Achievement medals, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Japanese Occupation Medals along with others. In 1968 Col. Menegat received a B.S. and M.E.D. from Springfield College, in Springfield, Massachusetts. Majoring in teacher education and psychology he became a clinical psychologist where he utilized for both the military and as a civil service. He studied the Rorschach technique, interpretation, and projective testing at the University of Louisville. There he was certified from the University of Montreal in clinical and medical hypnosis and received his doctorial degree from the University of Ottawa. From September 1959 through June 1966 Col. Menegat was a psychology instructor at Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont. He was a Chairman of the social science division and an advisor to both the freshman class and the psychology club. From September 1966 through January 1984 he was an associate professor of psychology in the New York University System at the Dutchess Community College where he was promoted to the head of the Behavioral Science Dept. and a full professor. Clinically Col. Menegat held positions during the 60's at numerous facilities in Vermont such as the Mental Health Clinic, the Social Welfare Department, the Catholic Charity Clinic, Vocational Rehab. Div., Caverly Child Health Center, Brandon Training School, and in New York Dutchess County Community. The late 60's and early 70's were spent with choice publisher's assessment of psychological and rehabilitation text and he worked with Ulster Community College for continuing education until 1980. Colonel Menegat also contributed much to the community through a number of professional and service based memberships. Such as 1974-6 as President for the Dutchess United Educators, and their Chief Negotiator from 1975 through 1977. Dutchess County Reserve Officers Association was another of many. He served as chairman of Public Relations Committees, Legislative Committee, and of its Constitution Revision Committee. Colonel Arduino A. Menegat lived a long and good life; he enjoyed making friends along its path. He was a spectacular officer and professor, a wonderful, kind, gentle, and loving husband, and father, Nono, and his presence will be missed dearly by us all! Qio va piano va sano!
