Dr. Yu Hsing passed away on August 19, 2022. He was a Professor of Economics at Southeastern Louisiana University from 1987-2021. Dr. Hsing was a prolific researcher and a dedicated teacher. He received SLU's prestigious President's Award for Excellence in Research in 1990. In 2001, he was ranked the 13th most-published economist in the world. He published over 300 articles during his academic career. He also founded and edited two journals, the International Journal of Applied Economics and the Journal of International and Global Economic Studies, both of which highlighted research on international macroeconomic issues.
He earned his bachelor's degree from the College of Chinese Culture in Taiwan in 1971, master's degree from the University of Oregon in 1975 and a second master's degree and doctoral degree from the University of Tennessee in 1983.
In addition to his academic accomplishments, Dr. Hsing was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He cooked family dinner every weeknight, and loved to talk and make jokes.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hsing; his daughter, Wei Wei Hsing; and his granddaughter, Maya Yilin Walker.

So sorry to hear the sad news. Dr. Hsing was a very kind and cheerful person. A good friend was lost but Dr. Hsing will be remembered by many of those who were inspired by him.
