David Pritchard Obituary

The Rev. David G. Pritchard, 90, of Wallingford, peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018. Born in Washington, DC on December 12, 1927, David was an Episcopal priest, ordained in December 1954, and served parishes in Lowell, MA, Madison, FL, Augusta, Americus, and Savannah, GA, and East Berlin and Waterbury, CT. He was also the editor of the diocesan newspapers in Georgia and Connecticut. Known to most as Fr. Pritchard, or Fr. David, he was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Catholic University in Washington, DC, and General Theological Seminary in New York City. He also served in the US Army for a short time between high school and college. He was instrumental in starting the Episcopal Cursillo movement in the Diocese of Connecticut. In addition to serving the Lord for 64 years, David also enjoyed community theater, and gardening. He was a life member of the Danbury Garden Club and served on both the state and national boards of the Federated Garden Clubs of America. David leaves his beloved wife of 64 years, Helen Hollis Pritchard, and their children, and daughters-in-law: Elizabeth Tamiso, David and Angela Pritchard, Robert and Marianne Pritchard, and Ruth Pritchard. He was known as Granddaddy to twelve grandchildren: Jay Tamiso, Emily Jensen, David IX, Paul (deceased), Michelle, and Adriana Pritchard; Rob, Christopher, and Katie Pritchard, and Matthew and Sabrina, and Seth Pritchard, and to five cherished great-grandchildren: Xoe Tamiso, Damir, Amber and James Pritchard, and Robert O. Pritchard III "Trip". Their memories of their husband, Daddy and Granddaddy will fill their hearts forever. Alleluia, He is Risen. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 59 Main St., Cheshire, CT, beginning at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to St. Peter's Episcopal Church or to a charity of your choice.
