Harry Bremner Obituary

BREMNER, Harry Irving A World War II veteran, died at his home Oct. 15, 2006. Bremner was born on Dec. 11, 1918, in Hollywood, Calif. He graduated from Hollywood High School in 1937 and from USC in 1947 after returning home from World War II. He was a major in the Army Air Corps and a B-29 command pilot of the 676th Squadron, 444th Bombardier Group, and 20th Air Force. He flew over 50 missions in his B-29 named "Trojan Spirit." After graduating, he got his Screen Extras Guild card and worked in the movies. He also worked at Union Oil, started Bremner Forest Products and later worked at Westlands Bank and Bank of Newport. He has resided in Corona del Mar since 1972 with his wife, Mary, of 62 years. In his later years he enjoyed writing fiction stories and an autobiography on yellow legal- sized pads. His lifelong devotion, pride and love of his family were apparent in his life. "I considered my family the Carnegie Medal, Nobel Prize and Blue Ribbon decorations all rolled into one," Bremner said. He is survived by his wife; and his three children, Bonnie Bremner Johnson, Ted and Tim Bremner; son-in-law Jeff Johnson; daughter-in-law Dale Bremner; grandchildren Beth Johnson Russell, Mary (Dennis) Dixon, Tad, Adam and Natalie Bremner; and great grandchildren Keely and Camden Dixon. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Pacific View Memorial Park and Mortuary at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006.
