Irene Rosario Obituary

ROSARIO, Irene Dismukes, our Nonna, departed this life on Saturday, November 13, 2010. She was born in Tarvisio, Italy on April 11, 1928 to Carlo and Angela Manganella. In 1946 she met Joe Carroll Dismukes who was stationed in Italy during World War II. They were married from 1947 to 1969. At the end of the war, they returned to Nashville, TN and had four sons, John Carlo Dismukes (Cheryl), Michael Donald Dismukes (Patti), Stephen Carroll Dismukes (Debbie) and Brian Christopher Dismukes (Janet). Brian preceded her in death in 1992. Nonna moved to Atlanta, GA in 1971 where she lived for 38 years before returning to Nashville in 2009. She was a member of the War Brides and Italian Club which enabled her to continue to embrace her language and culture. She was a fashion consultant for Saks Fifth Avenue in Atlanta for 20 years. Nonna was a life-long Catholic who loved her religion. She was proud of her heritage, her faith and instilled in her family the importance of family and tradition. To know her was to love her. She had a flair for life and made an impact on everyone she met. During the last year of her life, she was lovingly cared for by the staff at McKendree Manor. Nonna enjoyed and loved her eight grandchildren, Chris, Stephanie, Jennifer, Leslie, Chrissy, Lauren, Stacey and Courtney and her seven great-grandchildren, Caroline, Emily, Luke, Georgia, Abigail, Chloe and Sophia. Funeral Mass will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 14544 Lebanon Road, Old Hickory, TN 37138 with The Reverend Patrick Kibby officiating. On the day I was born, my mother Ida called her younger sister Irene, and said, "I just had your daughter". A lifelong bond was created that day, that has been nurtured and cherished through the ups and downs of my adult life. I am forever grateful to have had such an amazing women to confide and lean on, and mostly importantly to love, especially after the passing of my own mother, 20 years ago. The best gift Aunt Irene has given me, are my cousins and their families, whom I cherish and love. Her spirit and sweet memories will live on in each and everyone of us. Rest in peace, Aunt Irene. Love, Suzanne, Jon, Krista, Mia and Jack.

Ciao Zia Irene.Dall'Italia Roberto De Caro ; Emiddio De Caro ; Gioacchino De Caro & Deanna Manganella

On these occasions you never know what to say ... Any word appears empty of meaning is a pain so great. The memory of people who took care will live forever in our hearts: stronger than any hug, more important than any word ... Bye Aunt Irene. from Italy Roberto De Caro; Emiddio De Caro; Joachim De Caro & Deanna Manganella
