Jason Indomenico Obituary

Jason Edward Indomenico, J.D. 48, of Avon, beloved husband of Catherine (Knaus) Indomenico, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on August 19, 2023, from cancer, which he fought for years with strength and resilience. Jason was born on October 7, 1974, in Winsted, to John and Elaine Indomenico. He grew up in Harwinton, graduated from Lewis S. Mills High School, Class of 1992 (Class President, 1991). Jason attended the University of Connecticut (1996) and bled blue his entire life. Jason cultivated new and old relationships while at UCONN, truly enjoyed his college career, and his loyal Husky pack have been unwavering in their support.

Jason was a lifelong Husky season ticketholder and supporter of the University of Connecticut. He also enjoyed the music of Pearl Jam, attending their concerts and professional sporting events, specifically the New York Yankees.

In December 2003, Jason obtained his law degree at Western New England School of Law at night, worked full-time, and was admitted to the Bar in early 2004. His law career initially began in private practice, and he soon transitioned to The Hartford Insurance Company where he practiced with their workers compensation team and, in 2020, he transitioned to the Major Case Unit. Jason was famously talented in his professional career; his character, integrity, honesty, and humanity carried the resolution – behind the scenes, all who worked with him relied on his analysis, attention to detail, fair approach and comprehensive resolution.

Jason's biggest passion were his sons, Eli and Leo. Not unlike any parent, wherever they were, he wanted to be with them – this led to many of his proudest volunteer hours as a parent coach of their youth baseball and basketball teams. Jason believed in all the kids he coached, his community, and their education. He transitioned this effort by joining the Town of Avon's Board of Education in May 2018 and was later elected and served on the Board along with many of its subcommittees, including the construction of the high school turf field. In November 2021, he was elected to the Town Council and served as a member until his resignation for health reasons.

Since 2005, Jason was a proud member of the Prince Thomas of Savoy, where he served on several committees, including, most recently, Chairman of its Men's Scholarship Committee, was the 2022 Chili Cook-off Winner and recognized as one of four 2022 Men of the Year. He enjoyed socializing, playing darts and bocce at PTS. As one old timer said to him while playing bocce, you are too tall to be Italian, after Jason took the point. Special recognition to all friends at the club who navigated this journey with our family.

Jason was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2021. Throughout his illness, Jason worked full-time, remaining a pillar of his family while balancing treatments and all his obligations. During his illness, he was admitted to the following hospitals: Yale-New Haven Health, Hospital for Special Care and Hospital for Central Connecticut before being discharged home. Jason's family and friends are grateful for the care he received and, in particular, Dr. Hari Deshpande at Yale-New Haven Health, Dr. Illindala at Hospital of Central Connecticut, and the various home health agencies. The additional medical support provided by Trisha, Anja, Chris, Andrea, and Amy turned long days into easier ones.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Catherine Indomenico, and their sons, Eli, and Leo. He is also survived by his father John Indomenico (Dawn Schile), his mother Elaine Indomenico and sister, Tracy (Christopher) McKaveney and their sons, Aidan and Liam, many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws, and friends. Jason was predeceased by his grandparents, Donald Kellogg, Sr., and Elizabeth (Betty) Kellogg, and Carmel and Marie (Gioia) Indomenico.

Jason's family will receive friends Friday, August 25, 2023, from 5-8 PM at Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 10 AM directly at the Church of Saint Ann, 289 Arch Road, Avon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jason's name to honor his dedication to serving others: Prince Thomas of Savoy, Men's Scholarship Fund, 32 Old Farms Road, Avon. I was just informed this day of Jason´s passing. He was a true gentleman and a learned brother of the law. We had many workers comp cases together over the years and although we were adversaries in the workers compensation forum, his congeniality and fairness were unparalleled. When we chatted about our paths to our law degrees (a I also attended Western New England Law School at night) he said that we shared a bond and then he laughed when I told him I was also half Italian!

When he learned of my mother Francesca´s passing back in 2021 he sent a beautiful card. He was just that kind of man, caring, compassionate and above all else, ethically and morally grounded in goodness and kindness, to wit: One of my fondest memories, (after he deposed the surviving spouse of my client who was killed in an industrial accident), was her comment, "That young man was very kind to me."

That suns it up.

My deepest and most sincere condolences to Jason´s wife and family.
