Jennifer Hanson Obituary

HANSON, Jennifer M. Jennifer Marie Hanson, 21, a lifelong resident of North Granby, died early Thursday morning (February 21, 2008), at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center of Hartford. She was born in Springfield, MA. The daughter of Ronald S. "Ron" Hanson of West Springfield, and Karen (Kellam) Needham and her husband, John C. Needham of Granby, with whom she made her home. Jennifer was educated from the Granby School System and was a graduate of Granby High School Class of 2004. As a student at Granby High School, she was a member of the girl's basketball team, soccer team and the band where she played the flute. Jennifer was an exceptionally gifted student. She was a member of the National Honor Society, and graduated in the top ten percentile of her high school class. Jennifer received an early acceptance letter from George Washington University where she was offered the Women in Leadership in Science and Medicine program. She was currently a sophomore pre- med student attending George Washington University, where she was maintaining a high honors grade point average. Besides her loving parents she leaves a sister, Elisabeth L. Needham of Granby, her maternal grandparents, James E. and Marie E. Kellam of West Hartford, her paternal grandmother, Diana M. Hanson of West Springfield, MA, three aunts, two uncles and several cousins. Her funeral will be held Monday February 25, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Granby, 219 North Granby Rd., Granby. A private burial will take place in Granby Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday afternoon from 2-5 p.m. at the Hayes – Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook Street, in Granby. Instead of flowers contributions in her memory may be directed to the CT Children's Medical Center Foundation Inc., 12 Charter Oak Place, Hartford, 06106. Karen, I am so sad and heart broken for you on your loss of Jennifer. I worked with John at the Hartford, and we prayed continously for Jennifers healing of this aweful disease, and when I found out of her passing I was truely heartbroken.
My sincerest heartfelt sympathies go out to your family. But, now, Jennifer in resting in peace, and Thank GOD not suffering anymore.
