John Albert "Jack" Staib Jr.

John Staib Obituary

STAIB, John "Jack" Albert, Jr. John "Jack" Albert Staib Jr., 87, of South Windsor passed away Friday (August 26, 2005) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Gildersleeve, on December 26, 1917 to John A. Staib Sr. and Minnie Jennie Twenty Staib, he was a resident of South Windsor for 37 years. John was a graduate of Bulkeley High School and went on to Hillyer College for radio communications. He was employed by Westinghouse Elevator and a member of Union Local 91 until retiring in 1980. Mr. Staib was a member of the Masonic Brotherhood Lodge 44 from November 8, 1944 until his passing. Jack was fond of hunting, fishing, golfing, playing poker and he was an avid gardener constantly working on his yard at his beloved homestead. He was predeceased by two wives, Pauline Mae (Levy) Staib and Josephine (Lashetski) Staib and his sister, Marion Diciccio. He is survived by his five children, Carolyn Gray of Rochester, MA, Jacquelyn Hack and her husband Robert of Greene, ME, John A. Staib III and his wife Sally of Coventry, Marilyn Oquisanti of South Windsor, Lynn Cavalieri and her husband Guy of South Windsor and his "adopted" daughter Celia Jarvis of Vernon. Jack also leaves nine grandchildren, Jeffrey, Laura, Lynda (Parker), Gary Gray, Robert Hack III and Wendy Milliken (Hack), Lisa and Kimberly Oquisanti and Jennifer Mason; and eight great grandchildren. A Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 30, 11:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Coventry, 1171 Main St. Rt. 31 with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Grant Hill Cemetery, Coventry. Calling hours will be Monday, August 26, 6-9 p.m. at the Coventry Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Tpk. Rt 44, Coventry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack's name to the First Congregational Church, 1171 Main St., Coventry, CT 06238 or The First Congregational Church in South Windsor, 993 Main St., South Windsor, CT 06074.
