DOUGLAS, Mark Walter Sr.
Mark Walter Douglas, Sr., age 64, passed away on Sunday (August 25, 2013) with his family by his side at Hartford Hospital Hospice after a long battle with Cancer. Born on August 24, 1949 in Hartford Connecticut to Walter J. Douglas and Florence Darche Douglas. Mark was 1969 graduate of Connard High in West Hartford and also attended Mid Western University in Wichita Falls, Texas. He later worked at McGuire Group for over 25 years. A seasoned traveler, Mark enjoyed traveling the world with his family to destinations including Italy, Spain, Hawaii, Belgium, Prague, Morocco, France and Egypt. He will especially be remembered for the love he had for his family. As a tough critic to impress, he loved to watch movies. He enjoyed watching comedies and action films, but his absolute favorite movies were Westerns. Mark was also a member of the Bristol Lions Club and drove his prized Cadillac convertible in the Mum Festival parade for the Lions. Always a fun loving guy, he enjoyed spending time sharing memories and laughs with everyone, and especially enjoyed his trips to the Indy 500 with his Sons and his Best Friend Max and his Boys. He is survived by his Wife of 40 years Maryann Douglas; his children, Son Mark Douglas, Jr., and Daughter in law Hong Douglas of Farmington CT., Daughter Marissa Waseleski, and Son in law David Waseleski of Plainville CT, as well as Mother in law Norma Tarca and his two Granddaughters Adrianna Douglas and Krystal Waseleski. Mark was predeceased by his Father Walter J. Douglas of West Hartford, Mother Florence Darche Douglas of West Hartford, Stepmother Constance Douglas Paine of Simsbury and Father in law John W. Tarca of Plainville.

There are people in this world you meet that are a blessing to get the chance to have meet. Mr. Douglas was one of those people in my life. I had the chance to meet him for a very short time, but in that short time, i meet a Man that was still a Great Father, Great Grandfather, and man very much in love with his Wife. A man even going thru a battle with Cancer, was full of joys, Love, and Positive Outlook. If he taught me anything, its to LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST AND WITH THE BEST POSITIVE ATTITUDE UNTIL THE END.
It was a Privilege to be in Fine Company of a True Gentlemen like yourself.

Our deepest sympathy to the Douglas family. I grew up with Mark and his brother Jeff. My parents lived on Fernbrook Road. I have many memories of growing up with the neighborhood kids. It was with deep regrets I read about Mark in today's paper.
