Mary Yourell Obituary
Mary Patricia (Byrne) Yourell, 79, of Old Lyme passed away on October 20, 2014 at Manchester Hospital. Mrs. Yourell was born on July 17, 1935 in Dublin, Ireland to John Byrne and Flora MacKinnon Byrne. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt. Her life's work was the steadfast conviction to love, support, and guide her children to walk safely through the maze of life. Mary built a virtuous foundation lifted by honesty, integrity, and love and crowned with the light of wisdom. She was gracious beyond measure and our Angel on Earth. Mrs. Yourell is survived by her husband, Thomas Vincent Yourell; sons Thomas A. Yourell, Sean V. Yourell and wife Maureen, Patrick E. Yourell, Brendan R. Yourell and partner Dana Carr; daughters Siobhan M. Yourell Tauro and husband Stephen, Maureen D. Yourell, Mary C. Yourell Schauster and husband Matthew, Deirdre A. Yourell Walger and husband Jason, Eileen M. Yourell; sisters Francis Byrne Quinn and Flora Byrne Finley; brother John Byrne; and grandchildren Mairead, Thomas, Jillian, Liam, Maeve, Mairin, Gracie, Isabella, Ella Grace, Jack, Owen, Molly, Aiden, Grace, Cashlin. She is predeceased by her son Liam K. Yourell and sister Noelleen Byrne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 24 in St. Agnes Church, Niantic at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Duck River Cemetery, Old Lyme. Calling hours will be held at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Lake Ave. on Thursday, October 23 from 6 to 8 PM. In lieu of Flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Children's Hospital of Hartford Hospital, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Hartford, CT.

When mema was still alive we had a little joke between us about the way she said "thunder", I will miss the way she would scurry about the house to find her cell phone when it rang. I think I can say for Everyone in the family that she will be greatly missed and we will miss her with every nook and cranny in our hearts.

Dear Dede and family,
I am truly sorry to hear about your mom's passing. She was a beautiful woman inside and out, and I always enjoyed seeing her at your house in West Hartford back in my high school days. She always made me feel so welcome! And even years later when I would see her walking around town, she would stop and chat with me... like it was yesterday. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Yourell family...God has another angel in heaven, but she will be missed by many here on earth.

DeeDee, Mary, Brendan, Eileen, Sean, Patrick, Maureen, Mr.Yourell and all the other wonderful people that made up one of the biggest family's at OLS, I am so sorry for your loss. Your Mother was and still is truly a Saint to have raised as many wonderful children as she did. It was a pleasure growing up and playing with all of you. If one wasn't available another 2 or 3 were. We didn't care what we did but whatever it was we ALWAYS had fun. DeeDee and I getting stuck on the raft in storm at high tide!! Or,I can clearly hear Mr. Yourell yell down the street, "Don't forget to mind the baby!" As a clan of kids walked to the beach. I had no idea what he meant....until Deedee said, it's the Irish way of saying watch the baby, Eileen! Brendan with his dingy row boat everyday, Siobhan taking head counts, Sean in the motor boat taking everyone for rides. Patrick playing his drums on talent nights. What a blast. And your Mom there to watch from the bench enjoying her children all the time. Yes, she will be missed, but remember the good times you shared and she will always be with all of you in her own special way.
