MaryLou Crowley Obituary
MaryLou graduated from Bulkeley High School and went on to attend Saint Agnes School of Nursing. She dedicated her life to caring for others, working first at Saint Agnes Home for Unwed Mothers and then for Dr. Murphy in Hartford. However, MaryLou's true calling was being a devoted wife, a loving mother to her six children, and an adoring grandmother and great-grandmother.
MaryLou was a longtime member of Ellington Ridge Country Club, where she enjoyed playing golf with the Nine Hole Ladies and forging lifelong friendships. She loved reading, playing a competitive game of Scrabble, and cheering on the Providence College Friars and the UConn women's basketball team with her husband. Her warm and caring personality endeared her to all who knew her.
In addition to her beloved husband, Bob, MaryLou is survived their five children and their spouses: Tim (Jennifer) Crowley, Kathy (Bob) Larew, Bobby (Bev) Crowley, Casey (Yvonne) Crowley, and Marybeth (Pete) Hantzos. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren,10 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Katrina Mangiafico. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kim, and her siblings Millie, Joe, Rocco, and John.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Atrium in Rocky Hill for their loving care of MaryLou during her three-year battle with advanced dementia, and to the staff at Fox Hill Nursing Home in Vernon for their compassionate care in her final days.
All are welcome to attend calling hours at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road in Vernon on Friday, December 8, 2023, from 4-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace in Rockville. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. At the request of the family, burial in Ellington Center Cemetery will be private.
