Michael HOHENGARTEN Obituary
63, of Tampa, passed away at home on April 14, 2017. He was born in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, to his late parents, Carl S. Hohengarten and Gail I. (Grone) Hohengarten. Michael graduated from the University of Hartford and was an Army Veteran having served as a paratrooper in the 82nd airborne division. Michael was the quintessential Floridian; he enjoyed snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing and lazy summer days at the beach. He also loved music and played the guitar. He is survived by his loving family: his wife of 31 years, Lynn B. Hohengarten, daughter, Lindsey Lee Hohengarten, mother-in-law, Hazel M. Bouchard, sisters Mary Gail Bursey, Molly (Daniel) Carpenter, Kelly (Robert) Segee, and brother Carl Hohengarten, niece, Caroline Meckel and nephew, Benjamin Segee. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 5 PM on Thursday, April 27th at the Blount & Curry West Chapel, 6802 Silvermill Dr., Tampa. Family will begin receiving friends at 4 PM. Lynn and Lindsey, the world is a little sadder without Mike in it. Never one to pass on a joke, he'd always make me laugh. He's left his mark in this world and I knew Lynn that you were in love when you told me all those years ago how you thought he was the "one". After 31 years side by side, your love will go on forever. Now he's God's angel keeping watch over you both. I hope you can find strength knowing that you'll be together again some day. You are in my thoughts and prayers, much love to you both.

So sorry for your loss, Mike was a very special person. The first time I met him, was at Hop meadow, he had just got back , and entered the pool area, Every one stopped and all of his hundreds of Mothers and Fathers, raced to greet him. He looked so proud, dressed in full uniform. It took hours until he had a chance to sit and talk with Carl and myself, he truly was the big brother I never had. He had time for the little kids . And as the time passed he always did. I will never forget that day, we went home, only to return that night for dinner, and Mike was still there surrounded by people. He was a true gem and will be missed

Michael and I worked together in Simsbury Ct and I remember his intelligence and humor. We had a lot of laughs together. RIP Mike.

Lynn & Lindsey, My thoughts and prayers are with you both during this very difficult time. It was you and Mike that prompted Joe and I to move to Florida. You always showed us a great time here. Now Mike can be your guardian angel keeping a vigil eye on both of you.

Lynn & Lindsey, I am so sorry for your loss. I know how hard this is but Mike is now watching over both of you. I will always remember all of the fun and crazy times we had together. Love you both you are in my prayers.
