There will never be another Aunt Mildred! She was the living embodiment of gentle love. When she smiled or shared that little shy giggle about something, the room lit up and everything seemed right with the world. Her inner joy rang out thru the keys of a piano. In my mind she was always a blend of the very best of my Mama and my Grandma Brown-humble, gentle with just a little mischievousness mixed in for spice. As the odd kid in the family that never fit in anywhere, Aunt Mildred always made me feel loved and welcome. Uncle Walter could get me to smile inspite of myself. I cherish my memories of times I spent playing with Stevie and Little Bill, running around and thru her house, and she would turn from her cooking and smiling gently give us an idea of something neat to do that got us out of the way without leaving us feeling like we were IN the way and unwanted. I wished then, as I do now, that I knew how to tell her that I loved her and her family so much. There is no doubt in my mind that she is now, as she was here on earth, sitting at the feet of Jesus and now she rests in His perfect peace, her burdens at last laid down. I thank God that He blessed me to have had 3 such remarkable women in my life-Grandma Brown, Aunt Mildred and Mama. I am in constant prayer for healing and comfort for my cousins and their families.
