Memories and Condolences

Not sure what to say?

To the Bedard family,

Heartfelt condolences to you. Steve was an inspiration to so many all the years he was my work colleague. He was a veritable 'hero.' He exemplified courage in the face of danger. He kept a positive, forward-looking spirit always. At work he was a constant fountain of creative, intelligent ideas. His enthusiasm and his smile were infectious. His smile was greatest, his eyes brightest, when talking about his beloved family. Steve's spirit lives on in the lives he touched. I miss him dearly.

I'm sure the first thing God said to Steve upon arrival was 'You did good'. I was always amazed by the energy Steve poured into life from his teenage years to the present. Tough loss to endure. Condolences to his immediate and extended family.

Steve was a great guy. I knew him through the 43rd Aviation flying club where we were both members. I will always remember him. We flew together many times, including a trip around Connecticut landing at every airport in the state. This was his idea. We planned it out over 3 different days. It was a great trip and a great way to see our state from above.

To the Bedards,

Steve was a great football official, but a better person. He was selfless and kind and his family and friends always came first. I feel honored to have known him and I'll remember with pride the times we stepped on the field together.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family in this time of sorrow... He will be deeply missed. "Play on, Steve!"

Sincerely,

Steve was so fun and outgoing, he added great joy and "love of living" to any gathering he went to - especially to our flying club meetings that I mainly knew him from. He had such a strong passion for flying and was a great member to our club. His image still is front and center in the club photo on the membership recruitment flier. We all should emulate his love of life. I wish those in his family and closer friends, peace and healing.

I have never known anyone with as much passion for life as Steve had . . . how he loved to laugh, the dramatic flair when he told a story, the way he could make any event special with his energy and enthusiasm . . .
I'm blessed to have had him for a friend. Much love to you, Sharlene, and to your family.

My deepest sympathy goes out to all of Steve's family and friends. Steve was the first person I spoke to when I wanted to join the CCAFO, and was concerned about if they would welcome a female official. I will always remember Steve making me feel welcome there. He will be dearly missed.

I did not know Steve in a personal sense, but primarily through my wife Diana's friendship with Sharlene. When he became ill, my heart went out to him wishing for a recovery. I was also ill, but not to the extent Steve was. I had trouble enjoying life. I was astonished how he could continue to celebrate life and to push on under the most adverse of news. Unbeknownst to him, his actions encoraged me to do more. Steve was more than just a fantastic individual. He was my idol and hero.

" With his remarkable positive attitude, unselfish style and of course great sense of humor, he will be fondly remembered. He helped make me a better person/official in the short time I've known him. The world needs more people like Steve" Bob Lemanski CCAFO

Sharlene and family - My heartfelt condolences. I remember Steve from the 43rd Aviation Flying Club. Always upbeat, responsible, sociable and a genuine nice guy. At the urging of other club members, we did some aerobatic flying in an open cockpit plane out on Cape Cod one year. It was quite an experience and I remember Steve calling you afterward and talking excitedly about the flight. Will keep you and yours in my thoughts and prayers.

Sharlene, Paul, Scott and Joyce,
My heart goes out to you during this difficult time. Steve and I go back a long way some 45 years from when we were kids growing up at Southend park. We had a great deal of fun back then but my fondess memories go back to the days when we owned Twain's. Steve was always proud of those times and the only other times I had seen him happier were when he married Sharlene and the birth of his three children. It has been said that you judge how rich a man is by his friends and not by his wallet. Steve was the richest man in the world in my eyes. I loved him and will miss him dearly.
