Patti Kai Obituary



Patti Machiko Kai, 63, of Newington died peacefully Wednesday, December 3, 2014, in Hartford Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Malo Kai. Patti was born May 13, 1951 in New York City. She attended the Bronx High School of Science and New York University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She moved to Los Angeles in 1976 where she worked as a secretary for the Girl Scouts of America. In 1989 she moved to Newington and worked as a legal secretary for Shipman & Goodwin. She loved knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, embroidery, and embroidered beautiful Christmas stockings for all her friends and relatives. She had a number of cats throughout her life, and was devoted to them all. She is survived by her brother Michael Kai, and his wife Joyce of Newington, her nieces Eleanor Kwong and her husband Wesley, their children, Genevieve and Nathaniel, of Portland, OR and Rachel Walker and her husband David, of Seattle, WA, her caregiver Wilda Miranda and her cat Ralphie. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Robert. Patti's Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, at 11:00 AM at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. Friends may call on Tuesday, December 9, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Humane Association, 1400 16th Street NW, Suite 360, Washington, DC 20036.
