MARVIN, Richard C. Richard C. Marvin, 74, of Middletown, formerly of Deep River died Saturday, (April 29, 2006) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Rochester, NY, he was the son of the late John K.L. and Iva (Parmelee) Marvin. He lived most of his life in Connecticut. He was employed in financial services for the last nine years with Consumer Credit Counseling in East Hartford. He was a 1949 graduate of the Woodrow Wilson High School in Middletown, a 1953 graduate of Springfield College and also attended the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. An officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, he served in active duty and the reserves from 1953-1972. He is survived by his sons: Jonathan and his wife Sarah of Bow, NH, Richard and his wife Dr. Susan Hall of Guilford; and a sister, Jane M. Jones of Winthrop. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Daniel, Emily and William Marvin of Bow, NH and Anna and Lydia Marvin of Guilford; as well as five nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his brother Reynold. He was an active member of St. Ann's Episcopal Church in Old Lyme and has served with numerous civic organizations for many years. Private interment will take place at Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River. There are no calling hours. Ironically, Dick's boyhood hero was Lou Gehrig, contributions may be made to battle Lou Gehrig's disease, of which he succumbed to on Saturday, ALS Assoc., Conn Chapt., 4 Oxford Rd., Unit D1, Milford, CT 06406.
