Robert R. Sheriffs

1943 - 2018

Robert Ross (Bob) Sheriffs peacefully passed away with family by his side on July 27, 2018. He was 75 years of age. Born to Wilbur J. and Virginia Squier Sheriffs on January 8, 1943, Robert and his sister were raised in Somers, CT. After graduating from the University of Connecticut, he married his beloved wife of 52 years, Clara Dunn Sheriffs and they made their home in Burlington, CT until 2004, having raised their family there. Robert's business was within the construction industry, primarily in the sale and appraisal of heavy equipment. Additionally, he spent many years serving on Burlington Parks and Recreation Commission, Region 10 Board of Education, and Burlington Board of Selectmen, always advocating for the children in the community. A gentle and caring man with a fantastic sense of humor, Robert's deepest commitment and devotion in life was always to his family. In addition to his dear wife, Clara, he is survived by Robert Ross (Maria) Sheriffs III and their children, William Francis asnd Brian Joseph of Naples FL; Kimberleigh Ann Sheriffs and her children, Robert John Pawlak and Hannah Claire Pawlak of Farmington, CT; William Dunn (Elizabeth) Sheriffs and their children, Wyatt Cole and Austin James of Simsbury, CT. Predeceased by his parents, Robert is also survived by his loving sister, Roxanne Sheriffs of Naples, FL. He will be remembered as a true friend to many. Arrangements for a memorial service celebrating his life will be announced later. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association and to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his honor.
