He also especially enjoyed playing golf at Cape Cod where he spent many of his happiest times. Bob inspired and mentored many generations of young athletes who affectionately referred to him as "COACH". Contributions to his family, friends and all those who came in contact with him are too numerous to mention. Many were touched by his dynamic personality, his wonderful jokes and legendary stories. Bob's unselfish dedication to others is his lasting legacy. He will be sorely missed as he lived his life by his motto, "Everyday is Christmas." Mother Mary, Robbie, Patrick,
I so wish I could have been able to make it home to pay my respects to Mr. Skinner, and to also show my support and love for your family. I was deeply saddened, but remain uplifted by the message of inspiration that Mr. Skinner supplied to me and many others over the years. He has left an indelible mark in my heart and mind, and his spirit will certainly live on in all of us.

Dearest Mary,

I feel very fortunate to have known your guy. Bob always had a sincere interest in whomever he was talking with or in whatever he was doing. He threw himself into all aspects of his life. It was lovely to witness two people, like you and Bob, who knew that they were truly blessed to have found one another. Love and miss you.

My deepest sympathy to the Skinner family. Bob was absolutely unforgettable. My strongest memories include how he would enter the Underwriting Department at Middlesex Insurance like a tornado coming through the place ! I will also always be grateful for the attention he gave to my brother's first year at Norwich and remember fondly how he would brag about his son's Junior Golf exploits. He was and remains one on my personal "Most Memorable Characters" list. God bless you all.

Dear Mrs. Skinner, Robbie, Pat and family,

I was so sad to hear of Mr. Skinner's passing. I always loved spending time with your family and have fun memories from Holden and the Cape that always make me smile. Your dad was certainly a charmer and always had words of encouragement. His positive attitude was contagious. I know his passing brought so many people together who loved him and I wish I could have been there in person to share in his tribute. He will be missed by all.

My sincere condolences go out to Mrs. Skinner, Rob, Pat and the rest of the family. I have nothing but great memories of “Mr. Skinner” throughout our years on the golf course and with the high school team. He always made sure us boys were “having fun” and would constantly remind us to do just so. He will be greatly missed.

Bob was truly an amazing and unique man. The house that we purchased from Bob and Mary was one that we could tell was full of love and life. His ability to pass joy was so strong that my kids (who only met him a few times) told me that they already miss him. I found the attached photo of Bob on the Norwich University web site...

I knew Bob at Norwich and had not seen him in many years. I was a lowly "rook" when he was a senior. He was was a great guy and beloved of all the downtrodden freshmen. I can see from the obituary and and the other entries that his wonderful character lasted all his life.
God bless you all.

Bob was a frequest visitor to our office during the days when he was "beating the drums" of the companies he represented. He was a philosopher, a charmer, and always a"company" man. Our fondest recollection will be the underwriting opportunity that we were presenting to Bob, and on the way to the risk, we were passed by the fire trucks that arrived before we did.

Our prayers are for Bob's eternal joy and comfort with our Creator, and our sympathies go to the families and friends who suffer his loss. (The C. D. Whitney Agency office staff)

I worked with Bob many years ago at Travelers. Although our paths seldom crossed since that time, when they did it was always like old times. Bob was always "present" in life and his memory will always be "present" with his many friends.

Bob Skinner, to know him was to love him. Bob was bigger than life. I had the pleasure of being a fellow member of the N.E. 1752 Club with Bob. Through my own Presidency Bob held my hand and always offered advice with that "I know what I'm talking about" smile. I admired him.
My condolences to his entire family and friends.

Mary,Kids,& the extended Skinner Family...

So sorry to hear Bobby has passed on...he will be sorely missed, but ya all can take comfort knowing he's @ peace at last. Cancer is a merciless disease that has taken too many of us too early, let's hope a cure is found soon. Bobby was totally "an original", whom I had the pleasure to know & call my friend for over 50+ yrs.... having first met through the Worcester Pee Wee Hockey Association where our families spent lots of early Saturday & Sunday mornings becoming better acquainted back in the early fifties. Bobby also enjoyed a lifelong relationship with my Dad the late LtCol Joe Tivnan...hope their lockers are near by again. Adios mon ami....

With prayer and love from your family and friends each day will be a bit easier, and the love and memories in your heart will grow stronger. Bob was such a super guy. I know Dick and John are welcoming him into heaven and setting up their own Hockey Team. I pray for your heart to heal quickly . Ann Coe Rendahl

My heart-felt sympathy to all who mourn the passing of their loved one, Robert J Skinner. And yet, what peace there should be, knowing how gracefully he lived his life, how joyfully he walked among us. A man's life so well lived, a man's love so completely given, a man's battle so bravely and gallently fought. May Bobby rest in the arms of our Lord Jesus until all his family is together again in Heaven. Our love to all!

You may not recognize my name, but I worked at Worcester Country Club as a caddy and a bagroom attendant from 1997-2003. My deepest sympathies of Robert's passing.

Bob and Mary were two of the most sincerest, kindest people I had the priveledge to know and serve during my employement at W.C.C.

I think I can speak for all of my C.C. colleagues when I say Bob's words and wisdom brightened our days. He truly made us feel proud to be where we were and offered all he could if we needed it.

My condolences to Mary, the Skinner family, and everyone who was a part of Bob's life. God Bless.

My wife, Beth and I were saddened to learn of Bob's passing. He was truly an inspiration to be around. I first met Bob when my brothers and I were introduced to hockey by him on a makeshift rink at the Newton Square tennis courts. To my Dad's chagrin we all became devoted followers of the game each of us going on to play high school and college hockey, which was primarily due to the
enthusiastic introduction to the game we received from Bob. Years later I had an opportunity to run into Bob at a an FOR event. Talking to him brought back all those wonderful memories of learning to skate and the enthusiasm he had for the game. I am sure that he is now in the process of organizing a game behind the Pearly Gates! You will be sorely missed Bob.

Bobby was a life long friend who was like a brother to me. You always felt good around him. He always wanted to help people, and he truly meant it. He was fun and upbeat and made you feel safe....If you needed something Bobby would always know someone to call and would do it with joy. He looked you in the eye and listened and cared. It's a sad day to know I can't call him anymore. It was Christmas everyday having him as a friend, and I will miss him.

Coach Skinner was a friend of my fathers at Travelers, and he took me under his wing when I was in High school to help me decide where to play college football. He would connect me with coaches and set-up visits at colleges for me. While in College, he would call me, and offer his support. He left me with a life time goal of helping high students see what sports can do for them. I know I was one of many, who "Coach" help over the years. Coach's passion for helping people has touch many lives all over the Woreceter area, he will be missed.

As many will recall similar stories, I first met Bob through the hockey circles - at St John's and then Holy Cross - some 30-35 years ago. Being "green behind the ears" and beginning to learn life's lessons, his encouragement, his friendship and his passion for life are things I will never forget.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Mary, "RJ, III" is one of our "Most Unforgettable Characters". A stranger could meet him once and never forget him. He impacted so many lifes.

Ken enjoyed his recent visits with Bob--the last, a very special gift. You and the boys have a lifetime of his "gifts" and memories of all kinds, I'm sure.

I hope you all can feel comfort now, knowing he is at peace. In the days to come, thrive on his great courage and find strength from his tremendous gift of motivating those around him.

Our love,
