Theodore F. Maher

1933 - 2016

Theodore F. "Ted" "Coach" Maher, 83, of Windsor, beloved husband of Rolande "Ronnie" (Danis) Maher passed away at home surrounded by his loving family Sunday, February 28, 2016. Born January 21, 1933 in North Adams, MA son of the late William and Cecelia (Hardacker) Maher he grew up in North Adams before serving his country with the US Navy during the Korean War serving on the USS Ruchamkin. After the war Ted moved to Windsor where he lived for the past 59 years. He operated his own business working as an electrician. He was very active with the community, serving with the Windsor Kiwanis Club for many years and coaching Little League Baseball for 25 years, he enjoyed snowmobiling and off road racing; he and his brother Joe raced in the Baja 500 finishing third. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, Neil Diamond and watching his grandsons play baseball. Besides his wife Ronnie of 60 years he is survived by a son, Michael Maher and his wife June of South Windsor; two daughters, Lynn Baker and her husband Brad of Windsor, Kimberly Maher and her longtime partner, Michael Wypy of Forestville; a brother, Joseph Maher and his wife Diane of FL; five grandchildren, Mark-Andrew Maher, Aaron Baker, Erik Maher, Sara Maher, Christian Maher. Ted was predeceased by a son, Mark Maher and two brothers, Bill and Bob Maher. His family will receive friends Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 5-8 PM at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 3, 2016, 11 AM, at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, Windsor. Burial with military honors will be in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Windsor.
