Walter N. BAVIER Sr.

BAVIER, Walter N. Sr. Walter N. Bavier Sr., 87 of Bolton, died peacefully Monday (April 26, 2010) at his home with his wife by his side. Born in Bloomfield, he lived there until moving to Bolton in 1953. He worked for NorthEast Utilities until he retired in 1983. He served our country in two wars, with the Army in World War II and was activated with the CT National Guard for the Korean War as a Master Sergeant of the motor pool. He was an avid sportsman, fisherman, hunter, and a huge fan of Nascar Racing. He drove race cars for many years and won the last NEAR race at Riverside Park before it closed. Walt helped three other men start the Little League program in Bolton. Besides his loving wife of sixty-four years, Irene (Whitney) Bavier of Bolton, he leaves his son, Walter N. Bavier Jr. of Bolton, his daughter Cheryl Bavier of Stafford, and his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Ruth Bavier of Manchester; his grandchildren, Heather and Allen Harvell of Stafford, Corene and John Greene of Auburn, CA, Amy and Scott Bartley of Terryville, and Scott Johnson of Sturbridge, MA; six great-grandchildren, Jarod, Juliette, Sadie, Asher, Spencer, and Logan. Visiting hours to celebrate is life will be held Thursday, April 29, from 5-7 p.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester.
