William LUZIER Obituary

LUZIER, William Earl "Bill"
William Earl "Bill" Luzier, 66, of Pine Hill Road, Avon, beloved husband of Gloria (Kilby) Luzier, died Friday, (September 27, 2013) at his home with his family by his side. William is best remembered by his favorite quote "Even a blind squirrel can find a nut in the woods sometimes". Bill found his nuts in his home, his community and business, and family-both chosen and blood. He was born October 24, 1946 in Spangler, PA, son of the late William Ellsworth and Capitola (Graham) Luzier. Bill was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Luzier was owned and operated Colonial Carpets and Tile in Avon and Torrington for over 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, lawn work and watching both Red Sox and Steelers games. But he is best known for his fatherly nature (whether you needed one or not; he was more than willing to step in), his quick wit, and showing his granddaughter how to poke frogs with sticks. Besides his loving wife of 44 years, he is survived by his son, James Luzier of Avon; his daughter, Amy Mahtaney, her husband Gautam; granddaughter Diya and baby to be of Southington; a brother, Joseph Luzier of Cherry Hill, PA; two sisters, Barbara Williams of North Carolina and Anna Wilson of Pasadena, MD and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased five brothers, Gordon, James, Wesley, David and Kenneth; three sisters, Dorothy Dunn, Edna Stiffler and Betty Stiffler and an infant sister, Betty.
Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Tuesday, October 1st from 6-8 p.m. A memorial service with military honors will be celebrated at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 2nd at 1 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to your local Salvation Army. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Luzier family at this very sad and difficult time. I was so saddened to hear of the loss of Bill. I have been a long time customer of the store. Bill and I shared many stories and many laughs over the years. I can't even imagine going into the store and he's not sitting behind the desk on the phone... He will be truly missed. My deepest sympathy goes out to the entire family at this difficult time.

So very saddened to read of Bill's passing. I've been a customer, both personally and professionlly for 30 years. He was kind, gentlemanly, courteous and had the patience of a saint. In all that time I never even considered going into another store. Rest in peace Bill. You were one of the good guys and I will truly miss you. Barb Levine Coldwell Banker Real Estate
