Carl Kenneth Cross

1965 - 2023

Our loving son, brother, father, partner, uncle, and friend, Carl Kenneth Cross, age 58, passed away at home in Harlowton Montana on December 16, 2023, where he lived with his best friend and life partner Cindy Bennett Freeman. Although he will be dearly missed, we know he is finally at peace.

Carl was born in Helena Montana to Richard Cross (Linda) and Rita Cross (Jim Stanger). He was the eldest of five children. Carl and his siblings, Penne Cross (Doug), Rusty Cross (Kim), Bill Cross (Kim) and Stacy Roope (Dan) grew up together in Helena valley, building lifelong friendships with the other "Valley Kids".

Early in life, Carl was blessed with two beautiful daughters Rachal Conner (RC) and Nicole Cross (Dustin). They were the light in his life. He then later welcomed three grandchildren. (Lila Conner, Dylan Conner and Logan Cross- Flatt)

Carl spent much of his life working various construction and ranch jobs. This took him across Montana. He eventually made Harlowton his new home, where he met the love of his life and best friend Cindy Bennett Freeman.

Carl was working as a heavy equipment operator at the time of his passing.

Carl enjoyed his job, socializing, fishing, cooking, music, drawing and spending time outdoors. He was always a jokester and would often have the family laughing to the point of tears.

Mostly, he just loved. Carl loved Cindy, his family, his extended family, his friends and his music. His heart was big, tender and soft. He would do anything for anyone.

In the last few years, Carl struggled to do the things in life that he enjoyed because of chronic illness, pain and depression, but continued to try to help others. The love and the light he carried eventually gave into the suffering.

We lost our son, our brother, our father, uncle and friend.

In addition to the family listed above, Carl is survived by his nephews, Nick Cross (Myre), Hunter Cross, Hayden Cross, Cody Cross (Shanna), Kaden Cross, Cooper Cross, Marcus Roope (Danielle), Justin Roope, and Trey Roope. Nieces Jaimee Little (Travis), Autumn Beto (Tyler) and Destiny Alberts. Many cousins, aunts, uncles and great nieces and nephews. Special friends Kathy Olaf Morgan, Linda Haugen Cross and Davina Bargultz, and many others we consider extended family.

Carl was preceded in death by his niece Hailee Cross.
