ROBERT "BOB" DAY

1931 - 2018

ROBERT "BOB" DAY, 86, of Chesapeake, Ohio, was received in the arms of his Savior, Jesus, as his Heavenly Father welcomed him home on Monday, March 5, 2018. He was surrounded by his wife, daughter and son-in-law. Robert was born December 28, 1931, in Chesapeake, Ohio, to John M. and Myrtie Lawhon Day. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Leon, William Estill, Marshall, Conley, Edward, Elgia "Jim" and Elvin "Tom" Day, and by two sisters, Mabel Day and Hazel Riley. He retired from INCO with 35 years of service. He was a member of Defender United Methodist Church and a member of Gideon's International, doing 10 years of jail ministry. He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and a member of Proctorville VFW Post 6878. Bob served on the Lawrence County Soil and Water Board for 12 years and 20 years on the Southern States Board of Directors. Bob felt blessed to farm the land that was also his birthplace, and on most days could be found tilling and working God's good earth. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Kay Day; one daughter, Connie (Tommy) Cantrell of Chesapeake, Ohio; one sister, Blanche Bernice Farahay of Melbourne, Florida; a brother-in-law, Paul (Judy) Kay of Orangevale, California; and a sister-in-law, Maxine Day of Proctorville, Ohio. Also surviving Bob are two grandchildren, Faith (Bryan) Turner and Thomas (Lisa) Cantrell Jr., one great-grandson and four great-granddaughters, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Two very special friends, Bill and Mary Ann Flannery of Chesapeake, Ohio, survive Bob. His family, friends and neighbors were all blessed by his presence. Funeral service will be Friday, March 9, at 2 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Bill Flannery officiating. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Proctorville VFW Post 6878 will conduct military graveside rites. Donations may be made to Gideon's International in lieu of flowers.
