Carlos Guillermo Polo passed away Friday, March 25, 2011, surrounded by family, after a long and courageous battle against cancer.
Born to Carlos A Polo and Guillermina de Polo in Barranquilla, Colombia on January 28, 1935, he leaves his wife, best friend and partner of 51 years Meggy Polo. He was the proud and devoted father to Maria Polo-Gonzalez (Miguel A. Gonzalez), Carlos A Polo (Sara Polo), Andres Polo (Robyn Polo) and loving, caring grandfather to Cristine, Carla, Sebastian, Melissa and Gabrielle.
He was a successful and recognized ship agent and chartering broker for over 50 years and a member of the Jaycees International (JCI) since 1960.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.
The funeral mass will be held on Monday April 4th at 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, located at 11291 Southwest 142nd Avenue, Miami Fl.

Carlos, as Treasurer, was an important member of the JCI Executive Committee in 1975. It was a priviledge for me as a JCI VP and after that as JCI's Finance Director to work closely with Carlos to get JCI's finances in good order.
It was an honor to attend the funeral Mass this afternoon. My condolences to the family.. and Rest in Peace for ever Carlos..

Carlos was such a wonderful humble friend - not only from JCI and our many experiences there but because he also helped me buy my wife's engagement and wedding ring - a Columbian emerald surrounded by diamonds. I wished so many times that I had a contact email for him as I would have loved to stay in touch with such a great friend, husband, father, and gandpa!!! Carl Peterson Past JCI Pres from Guam.
