JILL GRANGER GREENWALD

GREENWALD, JILL GRANGER, of Coral Gables passed away at 8 a.m. Aug. 20, 2015 after a valiant struggle with Scleroderma. She was born April 29, 1943 in New York City to Jerry and Ruthie Granger. As a child, her family moved to Surfside. She graduated from Miami Beach High and then attended University of Miami. At 19, she met her future husband Allen. After their first date, she told her mom that she'd marry him and she did -- six weeks later. Jill was a true beauty with a big smile, big heart and big laugh. Despite her illness, she always was a positive person who lived for today and never looked back. She loved travel, summering on the French Riviera and in Santa Monica, Ca. She was an avid body builder, impressing all the giants in Gold's Gym in Venice Beach. She loved fashion and always wanted to look great and she did. Above all, she was a wonderful caring mother to Scott (Amy) and Andi (Michele); and a fun loving sister-in-law to Bunny Ross (Herb), Linda Cohen (Derek), Dr. Louie Greenwald (Susie) and the late Morty Greenwald. She adored her grandchildren Jonathan and Lexi. She had a special bond with cousins Susan Shron (Walter), Delly Kleiman Noel Ellman and Donna Piken (Stewart), and dear friend Bonnie Guren. She was a founder of High School in Israel and did volunteer suicide prevention counseling. She wants to give thanks to special people who helped her along her way and were caring and supportive: Dr. Michael Weitz, Dr. Diane Hoffer, companion and housekeeper Marjorie Pool; and Frank Sinatra, who always made her happy whenever and wherever. Services are 10 a.m. Sunday at Mount Nebo Kendall Memorial Gardens, 5900 SW 77th Ave. The family will receive visitors at Amy and Scott's home immediately afterwards. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Research Institute.
