Morton Lucoff

1929 - 2017

LUCOFF, MORTON passed away in his sleep on October 8 at the age of 88. He was born in NYC to Benjamin and Janet (Rosen) Lucoff. He grew up in Miami, attended the Universities of Florida and Missouri, where he received degrees in journalism and history. He was a reporter at newspapers in Hartford, CT and Buffalo, where he interviewed Dr. Martin Luther King and Malcolm X, before returning to Miami permanently. He worked for the Miami News from 1963-1988, covering city and county government and later had his own column "Ins and Outs." From 1989-2000, he was the Public Information Officer for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, Florida. After retiring, he worked for the Associated Press and other media outlets. He is survived by his two children, Joel and Marc, his grand-children, Rebecca, Rachel, and Samuel, his brother Manny, his niece and nephew, and cousins. His beloved wife, Sybil, passed away last November after 51 years of marriage. Funeral arrangements are being handled by RiversideGordon. Grave side services will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at 2:00 pm at Mount Nebo/Miami Memorial Gardens, 5505 NW 3 rd St., Miami, FL 33126.
