Robert Lowe Obituary

LOWE, JR. ROBERT N. (Bob), 57, passed away Monday, September 7th, 2015 at his home in Islamorada, FL. A prominent member of the tax world and avid fisherman, Lowe is survived by his wife of 37 years, Tammi (Rodgers) Lowe, their two children, Michelle Nicole Lowe, 31, and Robert N. Lowe, III, 29, as well as his mother, MaryAnn (Hendrix) Beehler, his sister, Karen (Lowe) Teixeira, and his brother, Roger W. Lowe. Lowe is predeceased by his father, Robert N. Lowe. Lowe was raised in South Florida, living in Riviera Beach, Key West and Lake Park. Growing up his passions were competitive sports, fishing, and snorkeling. In 1976, he graduated from Suncoast High School where he excelled academically, was elected student body president, and he and Tammi were prom king and queen. Lowe continued his education at the University of Florida. Paying his way through college, he worked full time at McDonald's earning his Bachelors of Science in Accounting and his Masters of Accountancy in 1980 and 1981, respectively. While working toward his degrees, Lowe began his lifelong love for the University of Florida Gators and, in 1978, married Tammi. As a Certified Public Accountant, Lowe had a 21-year career with Arthur Andersen. Rising quickly within the firm's ranks, Lowe held several leadership positions with Andersen including Managing Partner for the Florida/ Caribbean Market, Member of the Global, U.S. and U.S. Tax Leadership Teams, and Global Managing Partner for Expansions and Alliances. In 2004, Lowe set out to develop a global tax practice with Alvarez and Marsal and form Taxand, a global organization of tax advisory firms. Lowe's tireless work as CEO of Alvarez & Marsal Taxand led to the realization of his dream of a new organization that now rivals historically established tax firms. Throughout his career, Lowe was also involved with many charitable and civic organizations. Continuing his work with the University of Florida, Lowe sat on the Fisher School of Accounting Steering Committee for 24 years and the Warrington College of Business Dean's Advisory Board for 16 years. Similarly, Lowe was a director of several charities including Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Diabetes Research Institute and was a founding officer/director of the Miami Children's Hospital Civic Council. Lowe's legacy is far reaching and will be carried on by his friends, the professionals at Alvarez & Marsal and in the tax world, his family, and now, by the University of Florida. The Robert N. Lowe, Jr. Family Accounting Scholarship has been created at the University of Florida in his memory. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to The Robert N. Lowe, Jr. Family Accounting Scholarship, Warrington College of Business Attn Alison Law, University of Florida, 100 Bryan Hall, PO Box 117150, Gainesville, FL 32611.

I was a partner of Bob's at Andersen. I can say, without hesitation, he was one of the finest people I've ever known. A gentleman, peacemaker, intelligent, warm, caring - the list goes on. I only learned of his passing recently; although I had heard that he was ill. I am sadden to learn that he is no longer with us.

Tammi,
While there truly are no words that can express the right words, please know that our sincere condolences are sent to you and your precious family on the loss of the wonderful man you knew as husband, partner, friend and the kids as Dad. I can't imagine the loss you must all be feeling. Mark and I have been married for the same amount of time and it is unfathomable. I am so glad Bob is now at peace, it sounds like he fought quite a fight, being with the Lord is now his reward. We are sure he is looking down on you, smiling and loving you just as much as he did while he was here on earth. May god bless you and be there with you in the days ahead.
With love, your cousin,

Jennifer Strong

So very sorry to hear of your loss. I have such fond memories of Bobby both as a classmate at Suncoast as well as co-worker at McDonald's in the '70's. He was such an upstanding guy whom I always admired. My heart goes out to Tammie & his family as I know he will be deeply missed.

Tammi & Family: my sincere sympathies on Bobby's passing. He was always a step above and ahead of the crowd, starting in the years I knew him in High School. From his obituary, it's clear he continued in that manner with his many accomplishments, the most significant being his long and happy marriage and great family he and Tammi created. Praying for all of you as you adjust to life without this great guy, gone too soon.

Prayers for Tammi, Michelle, & Bob; Bill & Teresa & family. Quite a legacy left from a wonderful life.
