ROSE DRABKIN Obituary

DRABKIN, ROSE H., 103, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2012, at her home at the Hemispheres in Hallandale Beach, Florida. . Born in June of 1909, in Farrell, Pa., Rose was a graduate of Sharon High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh. Rose moved to Youngstown in early adulthood and lived here until retiring to Florida a few years ago. She was an active member of the community during that time, serving as a Red Cross Volunteer and Democratic Committeeman, as well as being active in many Jewish organizations. She was a member of the Congregation Rodef Sholom for over 60 years. Rose returned to school in mid-life to study electrolysis and maintained a successful career as an Electrologist in downtown Youngstown for over 40 years. She enjoyed her career and the many people she met while working. She had a warm and winning personality, making those around her feel special. Everyone remembers how she could light up the room with her smile. During those years, and up to the age of 100, Rose enjoyed traveling the world with her daughter, Barbara, and she was active all of her life, up to the very end. Rose was the daughter of the late Nettie Schermer Klein and Samuel Schermer of Farrell. She was predeceased by four siblings, Isadore Schermer, Lillian Schermer Goodman, Herman Schermer and Atty. Charles Schermer. Rose will be sadly missed by her daughter, Dr. Barbara Drabkin of Hallandale Beach; her son, Dr. Oliver (Diane) Drabkin; and grandchildren Vanessa and Danielle Drabkin, all of Chicago. Funeral services were held near her childhood home in Farrell. Memorial contributions can be made to the donor's choice. Condolences may be sent to daughter, Dr. Barbara Drabkin at [email protected].
