Yolanda Carbo Callava

CALLAVA, YOLANDA CARBO. Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed on peacefully on Thursday January 1, 2009. She was born in Viñales, Pinar del Rio, Cuba. Graduated with a Ph.D. in Education from Universidad de La Habana, Yolanda taught at the Immaculate Heart of Mary High School, Institute of Pedagogy and was a founding member of the Universidad de Pinar del Rio. She is survived by her daughter Maria (Manuel Fernandez-W), son Carlos (Mercy), grandchildren: Rebeca Sofia, David Eduardo, Elizabeth and Michelle, great grandchildren: Ace Carter and Sienna Sofia and brother Arturo (Migdalia) as well as many nieces and nephews. Yolanda, through her exemplary faith, served as a loyal member of the Catholic Church in many capacities, among them as President of the Legion of Mary. She was also recognized this past year with the Archdiocesan Award " Primum Regnum Dei" in recognition of her talent and dedication in the service of the Church. We invite friends and family to join us for a mass of resurrection at Saint Martha's Church, 9221 Biscayne Blvd. on Monday, 1/05/09 at 12:30PM. Interment will follow at Vista Memorial Cemetery, 14200 NW 57 Avenue, Miami Lakes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Martha Catholic Church. We all miss you dearly. Rest in peace.
