Norman Sevey

Norman "Norm" Joe Sevey, 86, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on the morning of Aug. 24, 2016. He was born in Vale, Ore., on July 1, 1930, to William Aaron Sevey and Jessie May Whisman-Sevey, the youngest boy of nine brothers and sisters. At the age of 16, Norm started working with his older brothers drilling water wells. In the summer of 1955, while working with his brother on an irrigation well at the farm of Ben Smith, his daughter Lila accidently hit Norm on the head with a garden hoe and he was smitten with her ever since. On May 27, 2016, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Norm was known for his honesty in all things. In business, he was always honest and fair to his customers. That honesty caused his business to grow. His business is still run with honesty as "the rule" by his son-in-law, Steve Hughes, Norm's daughters and two of his grandsons. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Lila May Sevey; his daughters, Linda Sevey and Kathy Hughes; his son-in-law, Steve Hughes; his grandchildren, Colter and wife Lisa Chancellor and Shawna, Dustin and Kyle and his wife Tessa; along with his three great-grandchildren, Lilliana, Talan and Trevor. Also by his many friends and brothers and sisters in the congregation. In his youth, Norm had little interest in the Bible, but as he discovered trees deep in the earth while drilling, he concluded the Bible account of the Flood must be true. In 1961, He began studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses and grew deeply devoted to the teachings of the Bible and enjoyed sharing that love and knowledge with others. He was preceded in death by his three brothers and four sisters and many close friends. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016, in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 7290 Henley Road, Klamath Falls, OR 97603.
