Ella Baker Obituary

Ella Baker

Ella M Baker, 86, of Bristol, Tenn., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 9, 2023.

She was born in W.Va., but moved to Maryland, where she met her late husband George William "Bill" Baker. She had lived in Bristol, Tenn. for the last 37 years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Oscar "Joe" Roberts and wife, Rachel.

She was strong in her faith and loved her family and singing to worship God.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Hallie Cheek of LaVale, Md.; her children, James (Jeanne) Baker of Havre de Grace, Md., Michael (Debra) Baker of Street, Md., Constance (Tom) Williams of Bristol, Va., and Patricia Baker of Bristol, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Gerald and Dorsie Smith.

Family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to a 2 p.m. Celebration of Life service on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Abingdon Church of God of Prophecy, 933 Hillman Hwy. NE, Abingdon, Va.

She is desperately missed by those she left behind. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.
